I chose this image inspired by Draupadi: Fire-Born Princess. since she is a strong, fierce female figure of Mahabharata I think fire can depict her character. There is another image I am looking to use but just having trouble finding its source, however, I know that I want her to be in fire and the image translates what I want.
Draupadi: Fire-Born Princess by Saraswati Nagpal is written in comic book form, and it includes most of all her life events from her being in powerful queen to a servant. The transition from queen to a servant is one of the events that I want to highlight. I think its one of the most important stories in the book because it shows how she deals with tragedies and then to see her coming out of that. I have only begun reading the book so I can't retaliate much, however, the way the time log is driven is good and easy to follow. Another good story is the disrobing of Draupadi, even though Dushasana is never able to disrobe her thanks to Krishna protecting her. This event is one of the most memorable in Indian mythology when it comes to talking about Draupadi. When looking at this story we also want to highlight the befores and afters of the disrobing.
The Palace of Illusions: A Novel by Chitra Banerjee is written in Draupadi's point of view, I have only read the summary of the book so far but I think it is an interesting take on her story. Through the book, we don't only get to learn about her life but also what she is thinking and feeling through all the events. One thing that I found very interesting is that in the summary it talks about her having an attraction to her husband's enemy, that is one part of her story that I want to look more into. Another part is maybe making a story of her and Krishna's friendship, since this is written in her point of view I want to see how she feels about him and explore more of their story.
I am still lost in the way I want to go about my storybook because I find her life story very fascinating that I feel like focusing on one part won't do her justice. I also don't want to change it too much but of course, I don't want to straight copy and paste so I am still in the thought of how to retell it in my own way.

City view of Guanajuato, Mexico Taken by me Hello everyone!! My name is Monica Avila, I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and moved to the U.S. when I was five, I can speak Spanish, English and a little bit of Portuguese (currently learning). I am a senior here at OU (Wow can't believe I'm saying senior time flies by so fast). I am a Health and Exercise Science major. I'll be graduating this spring, my plans so far are to take a year off and work and travel a little maybe go for masters in health promotion but I'm still not sure yet. In the future, I hope to go to grad school for physical therapy and work with either the elderly or children. I love science and learning about the human body. The way the human body works and manages to keep us alive is so amazing, learning all the mechanics of it is one of my favorite parts of my major. Therefore, some of my favorite classes have been Human Anatomy and Exercise Physiology. Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, B
